Host Family!!!!

Hello people out there,
I'm sorry that it took so long for me to write the next post, but nothing really interesting happened during the last weeks.

At my Organisation, every exchange student has its own page on the internet where you get informations for the student/parent seminar, about your flight, other exchange student blogs and lots of other stuff, including the into newslink.
This is a newsletter, written by into, which includes inportant knowledge and vocabulary of your host country and gets published every month.

So I went to my computer to download the third newslink, when I decided to check the "My Contacts" site, where I normally found the sentence, that there are no contacts for me yet. But this time, I found a bunch of different adresses, including my host family, my local coordinator and my school.
And I was sitting in  front of my computer and totally freak out, because this was what I've been waiting for, for months and there it was a simple adress telling me that I will be spending my exchange year in Kilkenny!!!

Unfaithfully, I had to wait until monday to call into for more information about my host family, because the internet doesn't contain any informations about my host family and at the into page was simply the adress.
On monday, I called the into office in Germany and asked about more informations about my host family and they told me that I will have two host brothers(22 and 36) and one host sister (17).
My host mother, who is single, is 56.
And they have a Spanish dog, called Phoebe. :)

All in all, I'm absolutely happy with my host family, because they have a pet and I have a host sister, who is nearly my age (I will turn 17 next November) and I have to older brothers, which is pretty cool too.

The next really important information for me was the school I will attend. My school is the Presentation Secondary School in Kilkenny, which is a 5 minutes walk away from the house of my host family (absolutely glad that I don't have to drive an hour with the bus to school).
Like many schools in Ireland it is an all girls' school , which I don't mind because it will be a really interesting experience. Moreover the girls at Presentation Secondary School wear school uniforms, which I think will be really strange at the beginning, but I think I'm gonna get used to it, especially because they look really good and it is also a part of the Irish culture.

Here is a picture where you can see how it my school uniform will look like:

The white blouse with tie and jumper and the skirts are typical for an irish school uniform.

At my school, I will attend the 4th year, also known as Transition year, which is less academic and the students learn more about personal skills. (I will write another post about the transition year later.)

If you want to know where in Ireland you can find Kilkenny click here and if you want to find out more about Kilkenny than click here.
Btw, Kilkenny has 24,423 inhabitants when you include the environs and is on the 12th place of urban areas in Ireland, which sounds funny because in Germany, a city with 24,423 inhabitants would be on the 511th place of urban areas in Germany.

If you have any questions or if you are going to Kilkenny too, please comment below.

I wish you a great day and hope that I will be able to write again soon.

Best wishes,

Isy :)
