When and where?

Hello,
During the last week I was on a small island in the north sea, together with a youth group from my local church. It was really funny and I had a great time and met lovely people.
But in this week I was asked many times when I am going to fly to Ireland and where, which lead me to the thought that you might also want know about it.

When?
The only thing I already know is that my plane will leave in the morning at the 26th August 2015 and I will have my Orientation Camp in Dublin(Soo excited!) until the 29th.
This is the plan for the Orientation Camp:

Expected Daily Routine
(can change due to weather, time, local events, size of the group, etc.):

Day 1:
Arrival, Get to know each other, Walk through Temple Bar
Day 2:
Workshop, Bank of Ireland, Book of Kelts, Trinity College, Dublinia Museum
Day 3:
Haven, Croke Park Stadium, Guiness Store House, Irische Danceparty
Day 4:
Good Bye and Slán Dublin: Breakfast and journey to the Host family

Where?

Sadly, I have no idea because I am still waiting for my host family. And when I have my host family I will know where I will live. (Going to give you an update immediately when I get the letter from into)

Btw, I have my Preparationcamp(VBT) at the 30/31 of May at Bonn. Anyone else too?

Why Ireland?

Hello guys *pleaseinsertwavinghand*,
Today, I decided to write a post about the question "why Ireland?".
This is a question I've been asked many times in my life, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to give an answer in my blog (so the next time someone asks me this question, I only have to give them the link to my blog). 

As I said in my first post, one reason is that I just like it but actually there is a longer story behind it.

When I first said that I want to make an exchange year, I was in elementary school and about 8 years old. At that time, I really wanted to go to Sweden, but the only reason for that was that I really loved Pippi Langstrumpf from Astrid Lindgren, anyway the idea of going abroad was in my head, and obviously didn't got out.

A few years later, I still wanted to make an exchange year, but the fact that I couldn't (and still can't) speak a word of swedish was a problem. Especially because I wanted to go to a country where I can speak at least a bit of the language so it would be easier to settle in.

The only language I could speak at that point in time was English, so my future Host country had to be English-speaking.
Faithfully there aren't that many English-speaking countrys in the world.

So I just had to decide between Australia, New Zealand, The United States of America, Canada, England, Scottland, Wales and Ireland. 

After I started researching about these countries, Canada, England and Ireland were left, and I fell in love with the green isle immediatly.
I mean, Old and mysterious stories about elves and  leprechauns, funny and lighthearted people, strange sports, an incredible landscape and this amazing accent. Honestly, I just love it!

And this is why I decided to make my exchange year in Ireland. I hope I was able to answer your question, if not, leave a comment.

How do you write your first post?

I have absolutely no idea.

I'm Isy, hello btw, and currently 16 years old. Though I live in a small town in the west of Germany and English isn't my first language, I will write this blog in English.

If you started wondering by now, why on earth I decided on writing a blog, when I live in a small town where absolutely absolutely nothing interesting happens, I am not good at writing and have obviously no idea of grammar, case sensitivity and comma placement, you should know that I am an exchange student.

Not at the moment, but I will be, when I have started my exchange year at the 26th of August.

I think that the question, in which country I am about to live, is a bit unecessary, looking at the big picture at the top, the colours and the headline of course.

If the question "why Ireland?" will pop up in your mind right now, you have to know that I like it.

And when I say, I like it, I mean the landscape, the accent, the culture, the sports, the history, the people and even the weather, though everyone says it's rainy. Living in Germany is a good condition to adjust.
It rains here all the time too.
 An exchange year is a lot of work. For everyone. Especially for the exchange student.

1.  You have to choose an organisation, which will organise your stay and will choose your host family, so making the right decision is definetely important! Check. (Btw. I decided to go with into.)
2. You have to apply for the organisation and get in. Check.
3. You have to fill in the application forms, which is PRETTY much work. Check.

And if you are finished with all of that and if your documents arrived in your host country and if you have nothing left to do than waiting,

than you can start writing a blog.

So do I.
